EEG
The electrical activity occurring in the brain is recorded through these electrodes.
It is a painless method.
How to EEG Process
Electrodes are placed on the scalp during application. The international system (10-20) system is used for electrode placement.
With the help of these electrodes, the signals received from the scalp are transmitted to the device and saved on the computer.
The EEG device is a device that records the signals from the brain as in the ECG examination.
In Which Cases Is Eeg Made?
1. Diagnosis of neurological diseases and monitoring of disease processes
Sara (epilepsy) diseaseeeg2
Differential diagnosis of non-epileptic events with epilepsy
Syncope
Episodic movement disorders
Migraine
Transient ischemic attacks
Psychogenic attacks
Non-epileptic movement disorders such as teak or chorea, etc.
Neurological diseases with special EEG findings.
2. Epilepsy Surgery
In patients who are candidates for anti-epileptic treatment resistant surgery, the indication of the operation and the type of surgical intervention to be applied are decided by EEG monitoring.
3. Detection of brain death in patients with coma condition
EEG is one of the confirmatory diagnostic methods applied to decide whether brain death occurs in patients with irreversible coma.
The absence of brain electrical activity in the EEG recording with a minimum of 16 electrodes for at least 30 minutes is one of the criteria supporting the diagnosis of brain death.
4. Consciousness Disorders and Psychiatric Diseases
In the diagnosis of neurological diseases that cause consciousness and perception disorders, coma, forgetfulness, attention disorder or dementia, in the monitoring of the clinical process and the effectiveness of the treatment in these diseases.
In determining whether a person has a problem or condition that affects brain function or mental health.
